Amitayus Monastery, Lien Tam, and Vien Lac warmly invite you to participate in a 7-day (December 28, 2026 – January 3, 2027) Phật Thất retreat in Bodh Gaya.

This retreat follows the traditional Pure Land (Tịnh Độ) practice in combination with Chan meditation methods.

Evening time is reserved for optional individual practice.

Optional 4-Day Buddhist Pilgrimage (Before the Retreat)

December 24 – 27, 2026

Participants may optionally join a guided pilgrimage before the retreat begins.

Day 1 – December 24

• Dungeshwari Cave Temples (site of ascetic practice)
• Sujata Stupa
• Mahabodhi Temple Complex

Day 2 – December 25 (Rajgir & Nalanda)

• Early drive to Rajgir
• Vulture Peak (Gridhrakuta Hill)
• Nalanda University Ruins

Day 3 – December 26 (Vaishali – Smriti Park – Varanasi)

• Early drive to Vaishali
• Vaishali (site of the Buddha’s last discourse and the first Bhikkhuni ordination)
• Smriti Park
• Drive to Varanasi
  
  Overnight stay in Varanasi

Day 4 – December 27 (Sarnath / Varanasi)

• Sarnath
• Dhamek Stupa (site of the First Sermon)
• Optional short visit to the Ganges River
• Drive back to Bodh Gaya

Important Information

Participants are responsible for covering their own flight tickets, accommodation, meals, transportation, and related personal expenses.

However, the organizing monasteries will gladly assist with coordination, accommodation recommendations, and local arrangements where needed.
